Advisory Board
These are people we call on from time to time for advice and support. Being on the Advisory Board doesn't involve any legal or fiscal responsibility ... but it does mean that we officially love these people and they love us too.
Parry Aftab
The internet safety lawyer. Yep, that's her title. She was the first internet lawyer and is the lawyer thatCongress and the newspapers turn to as the authority on internet safety and security issues. She has her own not-for-profit called Wired Safety that focuses on child internet safety. Parry and Wired Safety advise Do Something on security and privacy issues-and we listen to every word. Carefully.
Mark Carter
He is a marketing guy who started out as a journalist, so he has great PR instincts. Always thinking about potential spin for us. The best thing he has done for Do Something? Introduced us to Cleary Simpson.
Dan Nova
Big time venture capitalist at big time Highland Capital. We love this guy. He was on the Board of Directors here for years. We still love to see him at the BRICK Awards and see him from time to time for feedback on strategy. The best we can say about him is that he is a Red Sox fan and we love him anyway ... and to overcome that Red Sox thing means he really is terrific.
Nina Link
President and Chief Executive officer for the Magazine Publishers of America. Nina knows publishing—not only as an industry guru, but as the recipient of two National Magazine Awards. (And before that, she served as group president, Publishing and Interactive for Sesame Workshop, formerly Children’s Television Workshop (CTW), where she was responsible for the magazine publishing, book publishing, database, interactive software, and school divisions…which has to be one of the coolest jobs in America.) Nina is awesome. She has tons of advice for us on our magazine, BUILD—which is the only national magazine for kids about making the world a better place. We’re lucky to have Nina’s experience, advice, and time.
Rosalind Resnick
The original NetGrl on AOL, she founded (and sold at the right time) net Creations. Few people know internet marketing and security better than Rosalind. Now she helps start-ups write business plans. She lives three blocks from our office, but that's not the only reason she is on nearly every Board committee: she has lots of great ideas, experience, and contacts!
Robert Tolmach
Architect, investment banker and entrepreneur. He is President of WellGood LLC, a social enterprise providing services to ImportantGifts, a new type of online donation portal. He has lots of great ideas and his office is conveniently only 2 blocks from ours.
