Do Something International Expansion

We Hear You

We’ve received requests for international expansion from all continents – well, we’re still waiting on Antarctica – but we’re ready to make it possible for you to start a Do Something in your country.

What is Do Something?

Do Something believes teenagers everywhere can improve their communities. We leverage communications technologies to enable teens to convert their ideas and energy into action. It is our aim to inspire, empower and celebrate a generation doers: teenagers who recognize the need to do something, believe in their ability to get it done, and then take action.

We understand teens. We provide resources and opportunities that work on their terms. Bottom line, Do Something has three rules: no money, no cars, no adults. We never fundraise from teens. We go where teens are and don’t ask them to travel out of their communities or comfort zones. We never require an adult advisor or chaperone.

If you believe that teens in your country can lead right now read on and learn what it takes to get Do Something started in your country.

This isn’t easy!

Do you have what it takes? Do Something is an effective and efficient not for profit business. It’s taken 16 years to develop the expertise and the relationships that make Do Something so successful. Do Something has inspired millions of young people to be active citizens and we’ve awarded over $3 million to fund their efforts.

You can do all that good stuff too! But, new affiliates need to be prepared for the frustrations and challenges of the start-up process. Ask yourself these questions:

  • Are you prepared for legal, financial and tax issues?
  • Are you comfortable asking for money?
  • Is another organization already doing something similar in your country?
  • Is there a need for this program?
  • Do you have access to office space and equipment?
  • Do you have support? Are you starting as a joint venture with other corporate, philanthropic, and community leaders?
