Ciara puts in star turn at Staples school supply event

Staples Inc., a Framingham-based retailer of office supplies, said that Grammy winning singer-songwriter Ciara (above) put in an appearance at a Staples/Do Something 101 event.

Its Do Something campaign seeks to encourage teens to devote some of their summer to volunteering and contributing supplies that benefit students in need, Staples said.

"Ciara, joined by Chaske Spencer of Twilight and singer Leah Renee, worked side-by-side with volunteers during the second annual Staples/Do Something 101 national school supply drive event at the Children’s Aid Society Dunlevy Milbank Boys & Girls Club in New York," Staples said in a press release. "The group filled 5,000 bags with notebooks, calculators, binders, and other back-to-school essentials, which will be donated to local students in need in time for the upcoming school year."
