DOSOMETHING.ORG & SIX FLAGS FRIENDS TO AWARD $9,000 IN SCHOLARSHIPS
FOR OUTSTANDING YOUNG PEOPLE ROCKING SOCIAL CHANGE
Six winners will receive $1,500 in recognition and support for their community action through this new partnership
New York, NY (March 15, 2010)—Leading a program of social action is not only an amazing résumé booster for college applications, but it can also help pay for college itself! DoSomething.org, the largest organization for young people and social change, has teamed up with Six Flags Friends, the philanthropic arm of Six Flags, to identify some of the best young leaders and world changers through a national scholarship program. DoSomething.org and Six Flags Friends will reward six outstanding recipients a scholarship of $1,500.
“We’re looking for unbelievable young people that are really making a difference in their community,” says DoSomething.org CEO Nancy Lublin. “We’re excited to work with Six Flags Friends and reward those outstanding projects really meaningful scholarships.”
The scholarships will be awarded based on past, current and planned action in the community as well as the applicant’s passion, commitment and proven leadership skills. Six winners will be selected to receive a $1,500 scholarship and be featured on
DoSomething.org and promoted through various marketing platforms.
“We are proud to partner with DoSomething.org to reward young people who are taking real action in an effort to make a difference in our world,” said Jessica King, Director of Six Flags Friends. “Six Flags is committed to empowering the next generation of change makers.”
Applications will be open from March 15th through April 30th, with winners being announced June 1st. Applicants can learn more about the scholarship program and find out how to apply at

sixflags.com. DoSomething.org Public Service Announcements are shown on over 250 screens in 11 different Six Flags parks across the country, helping inspire young park-goers to take action around causes they care about.
