"VH1 DO SOMETHING AWARDS"
Is it just me, or does there seem to be a glut of awards shows? In other words, does Kim Kardashian need yet another red carpet to walk? (In this case, the carpet, incidentally, was blue.) I'll give the Do Something Awards a big pass. Here's an awards show that recognizes social change - and not just by famous people. Regular folks who have started charity initiatives or awareness campaigns also are in the running to win awards with the grand prize winner getting a hefty $100,000. Of course, there are celebs galore who have been nominated for making an impact in small and big ways. For every Olivia Wilde who travels to Haiti to help school children, you also have Khloé Kardashian and husband Lamar Odom, who auctioned off their clothes for charity. (So kind!) Nominees also include "Glee," which is being recognized for its stories about bullying, and "Extreme Makeover: Home Edition," which we've seen first hand do great things for others. Expect performances by Demi Lovato, OneRepublic and Foster The People. Actress Jane Lynch will be host. Consider her role on the show a preview of her hosting skills at next month's Emmy Awards. 9 p.m. VH1
