This was a big weekend for our friends at DoSomething.org. Kids from all over gathered in Los Angeles on Saturday for their annual Boot Camp, and Fanlala was on site to experience it all!

For the event, young minds gathered to pitch their ideas to their paired up “old person.” In two minutes the volunteers spoke to the catchers, explaining what their plans are to help out the people in their communities. Afterwards, the “old people,” the catchers gave feedback on the kids’ and teens’ ideas for another two minutes. Think speed-dating, but instead, positive support for community improvement! This provided fresh insight on how the participants could make their plans even better!

We got to speak with nearly a dozen eager activists who were all excited to get their program’s word out. From organizing inner-city dance programs to promoting personal research instead of just Googling answers, these active individuals definitely had their goals, and we were very pleased to pass on our knowledge to help them spread the word of their causes. The DoSomething.org Boot Camp was a great way for kids to make their causes known, and we wish all of the participants the best of luck!

Last night DoSomething.org also hosted the red carpet for the annual Do Something Awards. Tune in to the show tomorrow, August 21 at 9/8c on VH1! You won’t believe the stars that showed up for the event!
