I'm not a big fan of adults, and I'm frankly beginning to doubt their ability to make our world a better place. Take Congress -- please. On the other hand, I've been heartened in recent weeks by working on The 2011 VH1 Do Something! Awards -- which airs tonight at 9PM. The show -- hosted by the amazing and consistently hilarious Jane Lynch -- puts the spotlight on young people making a difference by "rocking the causes" that matter the most to them, as well as celebrating lots of more familiar celebrities who use their star power for the common good.

So check out dosomething.org -- led by Nancy Lublin, the group's self-described C.E.O. and Chief Old Person -- and find out what they do. And don't miss Thursday night's unusually uplifting, star-studded award show that features appearances by Will Ferrell, Kristen Bell, Tony Hawk, Amy Poehler, Taylor Swift, Jesse Tyler Ferguson, Lady Gaga, Olivia Wilde, Gene Simmons. Justin Bleber, David Beckham, Adam Lambert, Tyra Banks, Jon Cryer and Kim Kardashian, among many others. There are also performances by Foster The People, OneRepublic with B.o.B, and Demi Lovato -- not to mention something witty from a couple of those Real Housewives of Beverly Hills.
