Jane Lynch, Adam Lambert and Lady Gaga….okay. I, for one, can actually remember when VH1 stood for Video Hits One and ran music 24/7. Heck, I remember when MTV had music on it. Still, at least they do occasionally honor, you know, real musicians. Adam Lambert has been nominated for VH1’s Do Something Awards for 2011. Lambert is joined by Lady Gaga, Nick Jonas, Justin Bieber and The Black Eyed Peas in the nominations. Lambert is one of the success stories of American Idol, which incidentally has had more runners up go on to successful careers, it seems, than winners. The VH1 website notes a lot of things about Lambert, who has been actively campaigning on the issue of LGBT suicide prevention for some time now. They wrote: “Throwing huge support towards the Trevor Project Adam donated all the proceeds from ‘Aftermath Remix’ as well as joining the ‘It Gets Better’ campaign. From the beginning of his career, Adam has supported DonorsChoose by helping raise $322,260 for the organization. Instead of birthday gifts for his 29th birthday, Adam asked that friends and family donate to his Charity:Water birthday campaign. In doing so, the fans exceeded his wish of raising $290,000 and raised over $320,000.” Read entire article here
