The woman who makes Sue Sylvester so inhospitable has a new role: TV host.
“Glee” star Jane Lynch returns to host the Do Something Awards for the second year at 9 p.m. Thursday on VH1. The event honors celebrities who better the world through their activism. But one category salutes everyday people who are younger than 25; that winner will receive $100,000.
“I had a really good time last year,” Lynch said in a phone interview. “I was so impressed by these kids and their efforts. They do it to help people. I want to do my part to highlight what these kids have done.”
The aim of DoSomething.org is to inspire young people to take action, and the telecast is one way to trumpet that approach. The nominees in the Do Something Music Artist category are Adam Lambert, Justin Bieber, Lady Gaga, Nick Jonas, Linkin Park and the Black Eyed Peas. Nominees in other categories include royal newlyweds William and Catherine, David Beckham, Scarlett Johansson, Russell Brand and Will Ferrell.
The presenters include Lambert, Kristen Bell, Nick Cannon, Jon Cryer, Mario Lopez, Olivia Munn and Keke Palmer. There will be performances by Demi Lovato, Foster the People and OneRepublic with B.o.B.
