The 2012 Do Something Awards — hosted by New Girl stars Jake Johnson, Max Greenfield, and Lamorne Morris — were handed out on August 19, but the show was broadcast Tuesday, August 21 on VH1. The feel-good awards show honors community service, giving shiny flying shoe trophies to celebrities (and real people!) who give back through various charities. Although it relies on viewer votes, it doesn't seem like one of those straight-up popularity contests where the most buzz-worthy name up for the award walks away with it. If that were the case, it's possible Taylor Swift, One Direction or Katy Perry would've won the music award over will.i.am. But that also means two of our favorite actors — nominated stars Channing Tatum and The Vampire Diaries' Ian Somerhalder — were passed over in favor of other equally worthy men. Oh well.
