A month before Jane Lynch hosts the Emmys, the actress takes to the stage hosting the "2011 Do Something Awards" on VH1 for the second time.
Younger people taking the incentive impress her, Lynch tells Zap2it.
"It's a mixed blessing of being young and naive and they do and they sacrifice themselves and it's great to give the winner a spotlight," she says.
The awards honor those under 25 who achieve change for the better, and one honoree receives $100,000 for his cause.
"I write checks," Lynch says of her volunteer efforts. "I host a thing called The Rescue Train at the Pasadena Rose Bowl for seven or eight no kill shelters. We dress up dogs and cats in Halloween costumes."
The show, which taped earlier this week at the Hollywood Palladium, features Demi Lovato singing "Skyscraper" live for the first time. Foster the People, OneRepublic and B.o.B. also perform.
