Do Something is the premiere youth organization that inspires, empowers and celebrates young people changing the world. Interning at Do Something is a great way to learn the ins and outs of the not-for-profit world, work in a fun and young office environment and get great work experience. We give our interns tons of responsibility and are also known to have brownie bake-offs every once in awhile...Our offices are located in Union Square, NYC.
Position: Social Action Boot Camp and Training Intern
Our Social Action Boot Camps bring together a diverse group of young community leaders, activists and social entrepreneurs for a day of networking and training dedicated to giving each attendee the tools to grow and sustain their community action ideas, projects and organizations. The Social Action Training section of our site provides an online resource of the materials presented at Boot Camp with a focus on providing informative and engaging content for young people looking to start their own community project or not-for-profit organization.
Description:
- Research, develop and edit content for the Social Action Training section of the DoSomething.org website (www.dosomething.org/training)
- Help in the planning and execution of the Do Something's Social Action Boot Camps (www.dosomething.org/bootcamp)
- Work on marketing and imporving our Boot Camp livestream numbers and social action training video content
Requirements :
- Knowledge of Word and Excel
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Must be responsible and self-motivated
- Passionate about young people changing the world
Not required, but a plus:
- Knowledge of graphic design programs
- Knowledge of HTML/web design experience
Hours/Availability
- The Do Something offices are open 9:30 – 5:30, 5 days a week and we offer a flexible schedule
- Applicant must be committed to working 10 – 15 hours a week, and a total of 180 hours

Position: Grants Intern
Description:

- Manage grant applications
- General grants administration

Position: Marketing and Program Management Intern
Description:
- Research and development for Do Something's Cause of the Month program (we focus on everything from global poverty to homelessness to racism)
- Researching companies and brands that are relevant to a teen audience
- Brainstorming new youth marketing and youth outreach ideas
- Assisting in the management of our grants program/sponsor relations
- Working on a national canned food drive, both outreach and implementation logistics
- Some administrative work as necessary
Qualifications:
- Outgoing and enthusiastic personality
- Knowledge of pop culture and the teens trends of the moment
- Excellent communication skills: solid grammar, ability to convey message clearly, good telephone manner
- Self-starter, ability to work well alone or with others
- Passionate about teens changing the world

Position: Graphic Design Intern
Hours: 15hrs/wk Flexible schedule - total 180hr semester
Pay: $1000/semester
Reports to: Digital Media Associate
Responsibilities:
- Create mocks for web and print assets for all Do Something campaigns, events, and programs
- Assist in design of SWAG ("stuff we all need") requests
- Contribute ideas and strategy input for Do Something's online digital media
- Increase site usability and appeal through design
Requirements:
- Passion for young people changing the world
- Proficiency in Photoshop and Illustrator (and a HUGE plus if familiar with Final Cut Pro/Premiere Pro, After Effects/Motion, Dreamweaver, InDesign, and/or Flash)
- Strong plus if knowledgeable of HTML (w3c compliant) and CSS
- Team player a must
