The music itself was dead sounding, and immediately made me want to stop listening. If you want to spread the message on violence against women, you can at least write a decent song that people will want to listen to. The lyrics themselves were weak and added no depth to the piece. As for the music video, Ashanti appeared to be enjoying domestic violence with her languorous gazes into the rain in her glamorous costumes. Seeing a music video in such bad taste makes me appreciate Amanda Palmer and her darkly sarcastic music videos which at the same time are empowering for women.
everything that i saw in this video happens to women in real in abusive relationships.even the song itself was deep.
Ashanti's video rain on me was an act of sarcasm..I think she was doing the video in order to do it.She didnt care if it was happening to people or not ..all she wanted to do was put the video out there so people who have been abused can support her.It was for her own fame only.
The music and video is just an example of what really happens behind closed doors in a relationship. It hit me hard because I have experienced that act of abuse first hand. I think that it was a great video and dimistration of what really goes on. It does not matter if you're famous or not, it happens in life. And women need to act against violence, and shape or form.
This video presents many truths and facts about life. So many are abused in the background, but manage to hide it in reality. Many need to be let out of these abusive relationships. Women feel obligated to stay in these relations because they feel like they have commited to this man and want to do everything they can to remain in the relationship.
