Action Tips: Spread the Facts About HIV/AIDS in Africa

Educate yourself and spread the information on why people in Africa are more prone to get HIV/AIDS than Americans.

Educate others on why people in Africa are greater risk to contract HIV/AIDS.

Center your awareness campaign around an event.

You can plan a:

  • charity sports game
  • fashion show
  • music concert

Secure a space from your school.

Set a date to use the gym or auditorium. Also:

  • If you're hosting a sports event, ask the athletic department to provide the equipment.
  • If you're hosting a fashion show or music concert, work with the performing arts department to find people to run lights, sound, backstage operations, etc.

Get your friends and classmates involved.

They can be the team players, runway models, or musicians performing.

Project the facts on a screen or blank wall.

During the event, use a projector to display HIV in Africa facts in between the athletic plays or runway walks. For a music event, project the facts during the appropriate songs you choose to relate to the issue.

Some stats you can display:

  • 2/3 of all cases of HIV/AIDS occurs in Africa.
  • 1 in 5 adults in South Africa has HIV.
  • 3/4 of HIV-related deaths occur in Africa.

I would like to help all the people in africa with their problems with HIV/AIDS. It is really sad when you hear young girls and guys with aids.

HI...MY NAME IS AMANDA!AND I JUST WANT TO SAY THAT MY HEART GOES OUT TO ALL THE PEOPLE IN AFRICA WHO IS STRUGGLIN WITH AIDS/HIV...THIS IS A TERRIBLE BUT SERIOUS DISEASE AND I JUST WANT TO SAY "U ARE NOT ALONE!!"NO," I DONT HAVE THE DISEASE BUT I DO HAVE SOMETHING...A HELPIN HAND AND EARS TO LISTEN TO ANYONE IF THEY WANT SOMEONE TO TALK TO.I AM SO SORRY!!JUST TELL ME WHAT TO DO TO HELP AND I'M THERE.....

i know, it is really sad. i really want to help and make a difference in there lives, it's really not fair for them, this is so heartbreaking ):

This is heartbeaking. i wanna help. I cant wait to get started.

it sad to know so many people are suffering from this virus i would like to help

My heart goes to the orphans who are rendered helpless when their parents die of aids,i would love to help.

MY HEART GOES OUT TO ALL THE YOUNG ONES WHO WAS BORN WITH THE DISEASE AND ITS NOT BECAUSE OF THEM BUT BECAUSE OF THE PARENTS DIDNT TAKE THE TIME TO THINK OF WHAT TYPES OF RISK CAME ALONG WITH HAVEIN SEX.

I would love to help all of these people in Africa. It really hurts me to see what these people go through and the fact that hospitals are struggling to cope with the number of HIV-related patients that they have to care for, is really depressing.Even schools have fewer teachers due to the fact of the AIDS epidemic. Come to realize some kids that are in my school take advantage of the teachers we have today. Its disturbing because kids in Africa are hungry for knowledege when others who have it easily are throwin education away. I want to do everything I can to help.

i would love to help all african americans who are affected by HIV or any other STD's. I would always have u in my prayers

I would like to inform people in a different country about HIV and STD's for they can protect their self and others. Also this will help the deaths of the cause of the HIV and STD's in the world.

i wud like 2 help as much as any ppl i can doe am 16 and ma parents are 4rm africa i wanna help

hey I am daniel and I think that a group of us should all raise money and fly to Africa and help out @ clinics and stuff just a thought...

you know this isn't a bad idea. if we can get more teenagers from all over the U.S. then we could probably pull this off by the end of the summer.

i been informing myself about this deadly virus and i feel people should be more aware and spread awareness amongst the society whether your straight , gay , heterosexual and engaging in risky sexual behavior people should be aware that the virus can be spread and really affect you part of the reason for the spread to these sexual transmitted diseases is because people refuse to wear protection!!!!!!!!
HIV/AIDS infection is the leading cause of death for black women and its becoming a widely epidemic. aside from risky sexual behavior HIV/AIDS can be spread trough out the usage of drugs by sharing needles to conclude my awareness wear protection and spread the knowledge not the infection .

in africa cate and treatiment for young girls and boys below 27 are done secretly even attendance at clinic are so fewcompare to adult age of 45and above
this will continue for hw long peple are educated but they didnt come to clinic

I am a college fleshier, coming from a family ravaged with HIV/Aids,at the age of 4 years i was already an orphan, living with an old grand ma who could not do much,am happy she is now 84 years but very weak can not help me with ideas or encouragements any more,my school life and now college has been full of struggle, ailing mother,no job,bad economy in our country.i almost resorted to drugs for consolation if not for my mother who came up to my aid,i resolved i will work with people affected/infected with HIV/Aids.give them support, advice, talk to my fellow youth a bout good behaviors, share the gospel of Christ with them and try to keep them off any habit that can lead to Aids or ST D's,by incidence i did psychological counseling after high school, which am now using to draw the youths close, trying to build food security first in their homes by use of available resources, involving them in forums of talking to the youths,i want to help people like my mother, widows neglected to have the hope to move on and care for their children some of whom are leaving positive.I want to start a youth care center a place ravaged youth can come and have someone in me to hug and care about them.I welcome any youth who want to support me in this course to even come and work with us as volunteers, and any kind of support i will appreciate. I don't have a computer, resources are very scarce, and it is expensive to pay in the cybercafe,it may not be very easy for me to do a lot of writing,if any one can help me put this idea down i will appreciate but in future when i get support i will be able to communicate the problem to the world.thank you

Herbert Daniel, please feel free to come to Africa and just do something about this situation and i know God will help you.am ready to join you,and even be your host, only if you are ready to live in a mud thatched African hut.thanks

Herbert

Hello,
My name is Nathaniel, am an African and a Ghanaian to be specific. If you are interested in helping, please contact me on>
