Everyone has a story to tell. Whether it is about their day or about an experience, sharing stories is a great way to help unite people experiencing discrimination based on race, religion, ability, size, etc.
- The first thing you MUST do is figure out what type of discrimination you want the group to focus on. Visit our Discrimination section to find out more.
- Once you have the idea, create the group. Go on Facebook and click the “create group” button. Here you can come up with a group name and you can add friends.
- You can make the privacy setting open or you can make it closed so only your friends can see posts. You can even make it secret so those not in the group can’t see a thing.
- Once everything is set up, get the conversations going. Ask a question a day like:
- Was there a time you felt discriminated against?
- Have you witnessed discrimination?
- How do you feel about the laws made to prevent discrimination?
- Tell us how you show pride for your culture or religion.
- It is going to be hard to come up with questions every day. Instead, look up articles about discrimination and see what your friends have to say. You can even take turns asking questions.
- Try to create events with your group. Visit the Act Now section of our discrimination page to see how you and your group can get involved and make a difference.
