The International Relief Fund is responsible for providing immediate relief to victims of disasters. Hours after the devastating Haitian earthquake, the Relief Fund was the first to empty out their budget of millions of $ for the victims. Now we must help salvage the Fund to prepare for the next major disaster. (Too late, Chile beat me to it.)

In honor of Martin Luther King Jr. and his service to his country, the Red Cross Club will be volunteering at two different locations over the three-day weekend. On January 17th, we will be volunteering at Housing Works, a building dedicated to serve those with HIV/AIDS and are homeless, and paint the cafeteria, hallways, etc. On January 19th, we will volunteer at JCC by serving meals to the homeless, making welcome baskets for children in area hospitals, etc.

Throughout my entire high school experience, I've probably used hundreds to thousands of sheets of paper and discarded them to ordinary trash cans in large sums. Additionally, the English department where I volunteered wasted packages of paper every week which would cause me to constantly fidget in my seat. This must end NOW.
