Share that which help you to become dedicated to that which holds your interest. There are no end to the subjects that can be shared, from bird watching to mountain climbing, cyclist to botonist, share your personal passion.Help us to create a world that stimulates thinking and moves children in the right direction! You can also join our writing team.Stories, tales about Chelsea's Castle Land and its many creatures, is circulated among a number of writers, with each helping to develop stories; it can be a lot of fun as you see your contribution weaved into a winning story!YOUR TIME ears credits as volunteer hours toward the Presidential Volunteer Award (The Chelsea Foundation is listed) while you support the efforts of others, volunteers, all working to publish CHELSEA'S BEACON, a children's newspaper. Your volunteer hours are also recognized by many as community service hours.
Skills
- Required is a passion and skill in writing. The greater challenge for some will be writing on a third grade level. We do have editing teams in place, so writing skills are not as significantly as important as your creative thinking. We seek great storytellers. It is amazing to watch creative polished to become something amazingly perfect. If you are not creative, but know the writing rules, consider serving on our editing team. All should know in advance that there are forms to be signed prior to being accepted on the writing or the editing teams, and all work, even your own is subject to editing. It would be wise to examine the web site's Plant-a-seed page (www.chelseafoundation.org) prior to expressing your interest; click on WRITING. Forms are found on the Contact Us page. Please know if you work for a corporation and it has an active volunteer program, the hours you put in, is credited by most companies as volunteer hours and will be acknowledged. We are listed on many sites, including that which is connected to the Presidential Award for Volunteering. In addition, many companies will donate to the foundation in recognition of the hours that their employees contribute. So volunteering with the Chelsea Foundation, gives you three vital roles to play if not more. Many of our volunteers cross over—illustrators write, and writers illustrate! It is an excellent use of one's talents, if not a marketing method for those who compete, earning a living through their talent or for the very young looking for a place to begin showcasing their talent!
