Eric Glustrom - Education
Boulder, CO - It was a unlikely friendship with an orphaned refugee from the Democratic Republic of Congo that inspired Eric to do something about the sad state of education in Uganda. All Benson Olivier wanted was an education to help solve the challenges faced by the refugees of Kyangwali and the people of Congo. Eric made Benson’s dream come true by paying for Benson to go to school, and thus Educate! began with the goal of empowering the next generation of Ugandan leaders.

About Education
Education is a fundamental human right to which everyone is entitled, yet nearly one billion people across the world entered the 21st century unable to read a book or sign their names, and more than 72 million children will not go to school this year. The large majority of these children are girls, and almost 80% of them live in sub-Saharan Africa and South Asia. But education isn’t just a good thing in and of itself. Education is critical to reducing poverty and stopping the spread of HIV and AIDS.
