How did you spread the word about your Battle of the Bands video? We made an announcement on our school's PA system. sent an emai blast from our website, used facebook, posters and word of mouth. The school sent an email to all the teachers and staff to help us out.We also announced the contest at all of our gigs and used our local Pennysaver.
Did you use social media to get more eyes on your video? How? Yes. We used youtube, facebook and MySpace. We also used our website www.hoverkids.com.
Why is music education important to you? There are many reasons music education is important to us! Where do we start? First of all there are many subjects in our school system. Not all students excel in all subjects but music is universal and everyone loves one form of music or another. Second without music in our school, many kids would be left behind and would not be able to express themselves. Third some kids don't like sports but love music and art. Music is a way for those kids to fit in and be part of something. Fourth, music is a way to express ones feelings and to help put your best foot forward so no kid is left behind. Fifth, music is the universal language of the world.
Tell us more about the group or type of musical performance in your video: Hover formed when we were only evelen. We are now 13 and 14 and are performing everywhere! We are all related to each other (except the lead singer) and we are best friends too! Our first live performance was at our school's talent show when were only eleven and we gained instant popularity! Everyone in school knows us now! Its awesome! People ask us for autographs, pictures, dates (lol). Being able to perform at Owego Apalachin Middle School Talent Show gave use the confidence we needed to know we were good and could really become a good band. Without music education in school, that would not have happened.
Anything else we should know about your Battle of the Bands video project? Hover's Battle of the Band video project was made in part due to the support of Owego Apalachin Middle School.
