Jayden Synk is living proof that age doesn’t matter when it comes to making a difference. The 5-year-old, whose father is the founder of non-profit Freshcassete, decided to take action on equality and peace after she heard about the words of hate that Westboro Baptist Church was spreading against minorities.
Armed with lemons, cherries and water, Jayden was able to raise funds and share a message of peace and love. On June 14th she painted a small banner which read “Pink Lemonade for Peace: $1 Suggested Donation” and set-up a table in front of the Equality House located across the street from the Westboro Baptist Church.
Soon after the stand opened, 15 active soldiers stationed at Fort Riley rode out on their motorcycles to buy some lemonade and contribute to the cause. Westboro Baptist sent representatives to try and shut Jayden down. Needless to say, they failed. At the end of the day, she collected over $100 in cash donations and since then her online fundraiser has raised $16,799 dollars (and counting).
