"30 Rock" rocks out for a kidney

“He Needs A Kidney,” is a song written and recorded for the season finale of one of CGG’s fav shows 30 Rock as a tribute to Jack’s (Alec Baldwin) father who is seeking a kidney.

And what a crew he put together for the song! I mean, we are used to seeing star-studded episodes pretty regularly on 30 Rock but this is ridiculous. Sheryl Crow, Mary J. Blige, Maroon 5’s Adam Levine, Elvis Costello, Cyndi Lauper, Moby, Clay Aiken, the Beastie Boys, Wyclef Jean, Norah Jones, and more.

“Just give a kidney,” the group sings. But the song is not just for Jack’s pop, Milton Green. In fact, the song is available on iTunes and 100 percent of the proceeds are going to the National Kidney Foundation.

The National Kidney Foundation seeks to educate and help prevent and treat those with renal failure also known as kidney failure--a situation in which the kidneys fail to function adequately. Those suffering from diabetes or drug addiction are more at risk than others. Chronic kidney disease is actually very serious and quite common in the United States. In fact, more than 26 million Americans suffer from it--that's one in nine adults.
