Ashanti wasn’t the only celeb who showed up at Friday night’s Ultimate Prom. The evening was hosted my JoJo who is transitioning into quite the young woman. She was a knockout, gracing the pink carpet in her floor-length glittery gold gown and nearly matching long golden locks. JoJo is working on her new album “All I Want is Everything,” and when we say working, we mean working. She’s writing all of her own songs. “You know I’m not 13 anymore,” she told us. “I’m not comfortable doing that type of material so I’m really just taking the bull by the horns and taking charge.”

So it comes as no surprise that when it comes to cause JoJo is all about strong women. In fact her role model (other than her mother of course) is Jill Scott. “I saw her concert not too long ago and she brought me to tear. She made me laugh; she brought me on a journey. And lyrically, her words really touched me, so. I’d love to have that same effect on people one day.”

And while JoJo has worked with tons of charities, she’s still learning, and says that what impacts her the most are women’s issues. “As I grow older I learn more about them, and I do more of my own personal research, and speak to people that are more educated about it. There’s so much that I want to do as far as the sex trade and female genital mutilation. There’s a lot of things that I’m interested in and haven’t had the opportunity to work with yet.”
