Two tennis-loving teens had their Wimbledon wish granted earlier this month. But they got way more than they asked for. Not only did Make-A-Wish give them tickets to the Championships at Wimbledon, they also gave them the chance to hang out with court cutie Andy Murray!
The lucky 17 year old American, Christine McLinn, and 15 year old Netherlands native, Thys Kroezen, got to sit in the Center Court all day where they watched matches featuring some of Wimbledon’s greatest. Afterwards, they got to spend time with the UK’s number one tennis player, Andy Murray! The philanthropic player gave them tons of free gear and some tips as well.
The two teens are both tennis champs themselves as well. Christine suffers from Hodgkin’s disease and has endured chemotherapy but she has won championships nonetheless. Thys is fighting Osteosarcoma, a type of bone cancer, but he doesn’t let that get in his way. He rocks the court despite having his left arm amputated due to his illness.
The Make-A-Wish Foundation makes dreams come true like this all the time for sick kids and teens! And, as we’ve seen, athletes like Andy love fulfilling their wish and you can help by sponsoring a wish. If you don’t have the dough to fund a wish, do like Rihanna and become a bone marrow donor. You can even take the time this summer to set up a blood drive!
