Scarlett Johansson: actress, singer…handbag designer?

via PopEater

Scarlett Johansson just keeps adding to her list of talents! The star, who is currently the face of Barcelona-based fashion shop MANGO, has designed a handbag that will be available at all of MANGO store locations worldwide until March. Proceeds will go directly towards Oxfam’s Haiti Earthquake Response Fund.

Signed by the actress and including the words “Supporting the people of Haiti,” the bag is not only fashion friendly but also recession resistant, retailing at an affordable $30. Johansson says, “By purchasing this bag, you're helping to provide life-saving assistance, like clean water, to the people of Haiti.”

Now that’s what we call a great buy!

Michael Vick’s new reality series

via BET

It’s definitely not what comes to mind when we think of reality shows. This past Tuesday, “The Michael Vick Project,” a candid 10-part series that follows Vick during his controversial career comeback, premiered on BET. Michael Vick, who was arrested in 2007 for operating a dog fighting ring, admits that he’s made some big mistakes, but hopes that the docu-series will let the public really get to know him and how he's changed.

The new Philadelphia Eagles member told the Los Angeles Times, “What I want to do is change the perception of me. I am a human being…I wish it had never happened. But it’s not about how you fall, but about how you pick yourself up.”

The first episode showed the QB returning to the site of his dog fighting crimes. Vick’s return to the media spotlight prompted PETA spokesman Dan Shannon to make the statement, “People who abuse animals don’t deserve to be rewarded. They shouldn’t be given multimillion-dollar contracts . . . or given the privilege of being a role model. We don’t believe Michael Vick understands the seriousness of his crime. I think he’s sorry he got caught, but only time will tell if he’s truly remorseful.”

What do you think of Vick’s attempt to make amends? Will you tune in to the next episode?

Eva Longoria's sweet tooth

What could be sweeter than Eva Longoria-Parker teaming up with Godiva – as in Godiva chocolate? Earlier this week, The “Desperate Housewives” beauty helped launch the 2010 Godiva Valentine’s Day Sweepstakes in Century City, California.

Godiva has partnered with the Elton John AIDS Foundation (EJAF) in introducing a limited edition assortment for Valentine’s Day, the “True Love Heart” box. The chocolate brand has pledged $200K to EJAF, plus another $200K to a charity of the sweepstakes winner’s choice!

The customer with the winning access code in his/her Valentine’s Day box will also get the chance to attend the EJAF gala in New York City with a friend, and meet Sir Elton John himself. Sounds like a pretty sweet deal to us!

Quote of the day: Miley Cyrus

via limelife

“It's the little things you can do. I think it's really important that everybody come together because disaster relief isn't just now. It's how we're going to help years from now. We have to restore an entire place. It just can't be one person, one foundation, one group of people. All people have to come together."

- Miley Cyrus, in her announcement to auction her Herve Leger dress from the Grammy Awards on eBay. The auction will benefit the Red Cross to support its ongoing Haitian relief efforts. Keep an eye out for it to be posted online soon!

Bands tour to take action

The Sub City Take Action Tour presented by Hot Topic kicked off last week in Atlanta, Georgia, with a lineup of bands including We The Kings, Mayday Parade, A Rocket To The Moon, There For Tomorrow, Call The Cops, and Stereo Skyline. The annual event is teaming up with Do Something’s 2008 Awards winner Patrick Pedaja and his charity Driving for Donors, which raises funds and awareness about registering to be a marrow donor. The bands will participate in signings and appearances at select Hot Topic stores to further help spread the word about the cause.

Patrick, now 14, was diagnosed with leukemia at age 10. He and his family started Driving for Donors in 2007 and since then, they have helped add over 22,000 donors to the National Marrow Donor Program Registry! Hear more about Patrick’s inspirational story here:

Take action today. Fans can help at every show by either signing up for The National Marrow Registry or texting “Action” to 85944 to donate directly from their cell phones. 10% of each ticket sale also makes a donation to the charity. Find out when the tour will be coming to a location near you!

Leo and co. seize the moment

After just donating a whopping $1 mil to help Haiti last month, Leonardo DiCaprio is already at it again! There’s no surprise as to why he made the top 10 on our Top 20 Celebs Gone Good list back in November. He’s teamed up with Chace Crawford, Emmy Rossum, Justin Long, Jason Bateman, and more in a special video for “This is Our Moment” to mobilize the country towards working towards a cleaner, greener future.

“This is Our Moment” is the Natural Resources Defense Council’s new web-based video campaign that encourages Americans to actively participate in preserving the community by speaking to their legislative representatives via email and online videos. The campaign pushes for citizens to urge their senators to help pass climate legislation that is essential to help recharge the economy, reduce pollution and curb global warming, and create more jobs.

Seize the moment and check out what the A-list supporters have to say about how you can help to get the “Clean Energy, Jobs and American Power Act” passed in the Senate!

Jessica Simpson is sole-ful

Singer and designer Jessica Simpson has teamed up with the Soles4Souls charity in its pledge to send 50,000 shoes to Haiti. The Nashville-based organization is currently running a “50,000 Pairs in 50 Day Challenge.” Jessica is joined by celebrity hairstylist Ken Paves in the effort to provide appropriate footwear to earthquake survivors and aid volunteers to protect them from broken glass, twisted metal, and raw sewage.

The duo joins the cause that is also backed by Kim Kardashian. They urge that “Just five dollars will buy two people a pair of shoes." Wow! “That’s the price of a venti frap, by the way,” the charity writes.

Donating is super easy and only takes a minute! and help reach the goal of 50,000 pairs!

All-star athletes form One Team 4 Haiti

The sports world is joining together to aid ongoing Haitian relief efforts, with players from the NFL, NBA, MLB, and NHL supporting the Clinton Bush Haiti Fund’s work by starting their own campaign. “One Team 4 Haiti” will urge supporters to text for donations.

Individual players and teams alike are making their donations to various relief groups. Haiti native Samuel Dalembert (who is currently the only Haitian-born player in the NBA) of the Philadelphia 76ers taped a PSA for UNICEF and made a $100,000 donation to the organization in front of fans at the 76ers’ game last week! Meanwhile, the Washington Redskins are using owner Dan Snyder’s private plane to fly medical supplies, clothing, and personnel.

In a statement released by the team, Snyder urged, "We're not a relief organization, but there are times when our resources allow us to step in and make a difference, if only a small one. Getting the right people and supplies to Haiti is critically important."

All in all, the sports community has really teamed up to do something- by organizing special events, donating ticket sales, and making personal donations to score support and funds in the fight to help Haiti. Be a part of the team by texting “team” to 20222 ($10 donations for US fans, $5 for Canadian fans).
