Funnylady and former Saturday Night Life head writer and Weekend Update anchor Tina Fey returned to the show for the second time this weekend to play Republican VP candidate, Governor Sarah Palin. Fey and Palin have a striking resemblance and similar choice of eyewear and Fey definitely has the Palin accent down. On Saturday night, Amy Poehler, as Katie Couric asked “Explain your claim that you have foreign policy experience based on Alaska’s proximity to Russia,” to which Fey-as-Palin replied “We keep an eye on them. Every morning when Alaskans wake up one of the first things they do is look outside to see if there are any Russians hanging around. If there are, you gotta ask em what are you doing here and if they can give you a good reason and if they can’t it’s our responsibility to say, ya know, shoo…”
Fey’s Palin parody has boosted SNL’s ratings and even has early Emmy buzz, but Fey, an Obama supporter, says "I want to be done playing this lady Nov. 5,” she said, “So if anybody can help me be done playing this lady Nov. 5., that would be good for me.”
