The Beastie Boys are no ordinary rap group, so it stands to reason that the trio’s Adam Yauch (a.k.a. MCA) is no ordinary film director.
His movie debut was the Awesome I F***in’ Shot That. Haven’t seen it? Put it at the top of your Netflix queue now! The 2006 flick was created by giving 50 Beasties Boys audience members camcorders and letting them go crazy. Thanks to insane shots and cuts, Awesome is a concert film like none other.
Well Adam caught the film bug because he’s since started his own film company, Oscilloscope Laboratories, and has directed his second doc, Gunnin’ For That #1 Spot, which opens tomorrow, June 27.
The film follows the top high school bball players in the country as they convene on the world’s most legendary court, Harlem's Rucker Park, to shoot some hoops. Aided by a wealthy hip-hop library and a dedication to the art of the sport, MCA follows eight of the 24 top players in-depth, including some of the top NBA draft picks including Michael Beasley, Kevin Love, Jerryd Bayless, and Donte Green.

These are guys I don't know much about but reading this article definitely makes me want to go see this film. I love when a sport helps to motivate kids.
the top highschool b-ballers all on Rucker Park?? That's HUGE!!! I heard so many NBA players found their passion and got their start when playing on that court up in Harlem!
