This past Wednesday at 4pm, Ben Affleck won a charity poker tournament in Denver which helped raise over $60,000 for the Paralyzed Veterans of America. Ben beat out his buddies Seth Meyers of SNL, Jimmy Kimmel’s ex-girlfriend Sarah Silverman, actor Richard Dreyfuss, and talk show host Montel Williams.

Since Ben was at the DNC, he also ran America’s Second Harvest’s “Repack Event” at the Food Bank of the Rockies. For this event, Ben and a group of celebrities including Alicia Witt, Justin Bartha, and Ben Younger challenged a team of congressmen and senators such as Rep. Jim McGovern and Sen. Dick Durbin in a heated competition to see to who could pack the most boxes of food. And, despite a tape gun malfunction, Ben and the other celebs won. “I made a movie in Boston and I got to go into a lot of folks’ homes in the neighborhoods where I grew up. I was surprised to see how many people had to choose between buying food or paying for health care or housing," Ben said according to the Boston Herald. "This issue transcends politics. We have tremendous resources in this country. It’s a matter of allocating them."
