How does a celeb raise $40,000 for charity in one night? The lovely songbird Bjork may have found the answer when she helped turn a tiny New York bookstore into a VIP benefit concert on Friday, May 8th at the Housing Works Bookstore.
Bjork teamed up with an up-and-coming Brooklyn band The Dirty Projectors for the bookstore’s “Live From Home” concert series to benefit Housing Works, Inc., which provides direct services for homeless New Yorkers with HIV/AIDS. Famous New Yorkers like M.I.A. showed up to listen to the vocal stylings of the Icelandic native and support the cause.
Impressed by Bjork’s bookstore bash? You can put your own benefit concert together in your hometown. You can also follow in Bjork’s footsteps by greening your prom—that’s right people, she’s an environmentalist too! Tell us what you think of Bjork’s benefit for charity! Comment below.
