It's Blog Action Day. Over one billion people in the world live on less than a dollar a day. Today, thousands of bloggers from all over the world are discussing one issue: poverty, to raise awareness about how we can initiate action across the web. CGG is proud to be a participant of Blog Action Day!
We're no stranger to celebs fighting poverty, whether it's Usher or Brad Pitt working in New Orleans, Ben Affleck packing meals for the homeless, or Wyclef Jean and Matt Damon feeding hurricane victims in Haiti.
But you don't have to be a celebrity to make a difference. Do Something has come up with a whirlwind of ideas, that take a minute, an hour, or a day on how you can combat poverty.
Check out all of the action guides here!

so cool that CGG is a part of this! I wonder what the impact will be.
so cool when the celebs use their fame for good. do people have favorite celebs who volunteer? Matt Damon is pretty sweet. Don't you think Matt Damon and Ben Affleck should do a Good Will Hunting style promo video?
Poverty is one of the major problems in our country now. More and more people are having financial hardship because of the never-ending cycle of poverty. The demand of the people who are in need of financial assistance is growing. Remember, Barbara Ehrenreich said, to live in poverty is to live with constant uncertainty, to accept galling indignities, and to expect harassment by the police, welfare officials and employers, as well as by others who are poor and desperate. Desperate times call for desperate measures, but I know when I’m short on cash I don’t have to do anything crazy; I can get payday loans to help me through my short-term financial issues. I heard that Jennifer Aniston is coming out with a 2009 Calendar, featuring pictures of herself, of course. I mean, if you are blessed with that much beauty, why not make a calendar of yourself? Anyway, Jennifer Aniston’s calendar pictures are pretty racy. In the most popular photo, Aniston is wearing a soaking wet flesh-colored shirt. Needless to say, the shirt is basically transparent; November 2009 is looking like it’s going to be a good month, if you’re interested in Jennifer Aniston without a shirt. Jennifer Aniston in a wet t-shirt is one thing because she somehow remains classy in her scandalous photos. Me, or any other average person, in a wet t-shirt is a completely different thing. When I think of wet t-shirts I think of crazy, drunk girls trying to get attention and win a menial cash prize at a trashy bar. I guess some people are just desperate for attention—or money. Like I said, desperate times call for desperate measures. I’m glad I don’t have to go around to all the trashy bars in town and compete in degrading contests just to make a dollar. Yeah, money is tight, but for the most part, I do a great job of saving and budgeting. When I get caught in a financial dilemma like not being able to pay a certain bill because payday is next week, I don’t do crazy stuff to get extra money. Paying my bills on time is extremely important to me because I want to maintain a good credit score. So when I’m short on cash, I don’t put on a wet t-shirt, I get payday loans.
