Brad Paisley took to the political stage on Tuesday. But don’t worry—he’s not dropping his singing career to take a stab at politics like Kal Penn. He was there to entertain President Obama and Michelle!
Brad’s performance was part of Michelle Obama’s new White House Music Series. Eight local music students got to watch it and talk to the famous rocker—part of the First Lady’s push for education and the arts. The series kicked off on June 15 with a night dedicated to jazz but, of course, Tuesday night was all about country. "It's helped make America more hopeful,” said Obama about Brad’s genre, “It's captured our restlessness and resilience."
And what was Brad’s reaction to the prestigious opportunity? He took to Twitter of course: "Sure we'll play? what time? Now where's your house again? 1600 Pennsylvania? Got it ... do you have a p.a.? What about food?" At the show, he performed some of his hits and even dedicated “I Thought I Loved You Then” to the first couple.
Help musicians like Brad promote the arts and “Save the Music”—VH1’s music education foundation. Put together a musical instrument drive in your town to give to underprivileged kids. Numerous studies affirm that students who receive music education in school improve their SAT and ACT scores in math, foreign language and creative writing. So start playing and sharing the joy of music! Who knows—you might be the next Brad Paisley!?
