CGG: Welcome back, Ms. B! Your new song sounds SO HOT, but the lyrics and the video -- you play an angel figure -- are so emotional. We know that Rodney (“The Boy is Mine”) Jerkins wrote it, but it must mean something to you on a personal level. In your life right now, are you playing someone’s guardian angel, or is someone yours, and if the latter, who?

Brandy: "Right Here (Departed)" is a song that truly inspired me. It reminded me of all the times that I needed family and friends to lift me up in my time of need and also me being there for them when they needed me. It is a record that the entire world can relate to because everybody needs somebody. In the video I am a guardian angel and I am there for the love and support of my loved ones. My daughter [Sy'rai, age 6] is my angel. She is my best friend, and her love is so special to me.

CGG: Thanksgiving is next week. What are you most thankful for this year? And how will you be celebrating?

Brandy: I am thankful for each moment that I live and also for all the people that are dear to me. I am thankful mostly for love because without it I am nothing. I will continue to celebrate my blessings by always being grateful for what I have, and of course on the day of Thanksgiving, spend time with the people I love most! I am also thankful for the opportunity to give the world my music again.

CGG: Despite the economic downturn, there is a great feeling in the US post-Election Day, and for the young generation, who know they made a difference by using their voice and/or their vote. There’s no use wasting all of that energy, so which issue do you think teens and twentysomethings should turn to now?

Brandy: I feel that the youth should always turn within and stay true to who they are and never be afraid of being themselves. We are all different in our own way and that uniqueness should be celebrated and respected. I am so blessed to have been apart of something so historical as this year's election, and I am so proud that I was able to share it with my daughter. Obama, baby!!!!

CGG: Is there a particular cause or charity that is close to your heart, and what do you do in the way of community service and/or volunteering?

Brandy: I give back through the youth. I have a foundation called the Norwood Kids Foundation that focuses on the development of our youth, helping them realize that they are the future and they are responsible for making the right choices to better their lives and the world. I also volunteer at my daughter's school, helping her and all of her friends grow.

Thanks, Brandy!
