Joss Stone and other Brit rockers care about our election too!

Joss Stone is 21, which means she’s old enough to vote – just not in America.

No matter: "The U.S. election really does impact the entire world," the Brit said, and "while I can't vote in this country, I want to do what I can to inspire others, especially young voters, to make their voices heard.”

To that end, the gal who’s Most Likely to Be Found Performing Barefoot is releasing a new single, “Governmentalist”, and partnering with the leading U.S. voter registration group Headcount. The song is available for free at www.HeadCount.org starting today, and Joss will appear at the org’s “Get out the Vote Party” at NYC’s Highline Ballroom on November 3, the night before Americans head to the polls.

Joss says "Governmentalist" is her response to criticism she received from a U.K. government official after she spoke out against the poor medical care for Iraq War veterans, but she also considers it a global anthem representing her generation’s passion and their desire to hold government accountable.

Another Brit making pre-Election Day noise is Duran Duran’s John Taylor. The iconic bassist – who’s married to an American, Juicy Couture co-founder Gela Taylor – today posted a pro-Obama video in which the expat expresses his pride for his adopted land.

LA has been John’s home for the past decade-plus, but as a non-citizen, he’s unable to vote. Still, “I’m able to influence those who come to the gigs” by wearing a Barack tee while on tour, he told CGG when Duran Duran played New York. He hopes his homemade clip will do the same: In it, he implores U.S. voters to vote for Obama -- "for the world."

Meanwhile, veteran English troubadour Robyn Hitchcock told CGG during the Cape Farewell climate change expedition in Greenland last week that since the election will have such an impact on the UK, “we [Brits] should be able to cast a vote too.”

Um, can’t imagine that happening anytime soon. Sorry, Robyn!

But those of us who are U.S. citizens and over 18 MUST exercise our right. And if you're 17 and under? You may not have a vote, but you do have a voice. Check out our cool PSAs by Usher and Lil Mama, and if you’re not registered, find out if your state is still allowing sign-ups by clicking HERE.

it's interesting to see people from other countries take an interest in our election. it's a shame that they care more than people in our own country who don't vote.

I love that this election is taking center stage internationally. It's going to be the most important election ever, for sure.

Yeah, I agree with becksgirl. We need to get more enthusiastic and involved about our own country! Don't get me wrong, the international solidarity is definitely appreciated.

i agree, if only people in our own country thought it was so important!

It's interesting to me that I don't know a THING about England's political situation, while people there are SO invested in our politics!
