Ever wondered what kind of music Britney Spears, Gwen Stefani, or Pete Wentz has on their iPods? Well, some lucky bidder in Tonic’s Celebrity iPod Auction will soon be the proud owner of one of their autographed iPods and can tell you the answer.
Tonic has teamed up with over 70 celebrities to auction off autographed iPods loaded with their personal tunes. The auction began February 12th and ends in August and each week until then between one and five separate iPods will be up for grabs on eBay.
The money will benefit Music Rising, a campaign founded by U2’s the Edge in 2005 that seeks to bring back the music scene lost in the Gulf Coast Region after the hurricane disasters. Their first mission was to help replace the instruments that musicians of New Orleans lost in the disaster. They donated over 2,700 instruments to displaced artists who are now scattered around the country.
100 percent of the proceeds from the auction will go towards the second part of Music Rising’s mission which is aiming its help towards schools and churches. “Phase two” as they call it, is being administered by the Gibson Foundation. They also hope to begin supporting Community Musical and Cultural Organizations and Events.
And it’s not just the music stars like Madonna, Beyonce, and Mariah Carey who are giving away their music. Actors like Ben Affleck and Scarlett Johansson, politicians like former President Bill Clinton, and even the fashion designer Marc Jacobs are all involved in the cause too.
Can you imagine jamin’ out in your car to one of these star play lists? Who do you think has the best music on their iPod? Comment below!
