Last month, we called on all the September-born superstars out there to give up their big birthday bashes to instead raise money to bring clean drinking water to all who need it through Charity:Water. And guess what?? It looks like someone heard us!!

Richie Akiva, co-owner of nightlife hotspots Butter and 1OAK and ex-beau of supermodel Carmen Kass, put his star-connections to good use and celebrated his birthday in conjuction with Charity:Water. Celebs came out en masse to support the lucrative club promoter, including Jay-Z, Beyonce, Leonardo DiCaprio, Usher, Serena Williams , Diddy, Tobey Maguire, Chace Crawford, Leighton Meester, Rachel Zoe, and Jessica Stam.

And for coming out to party hardy for a good cause, Richie treated all his guests to special performances by Robin Thicke and John Legend. It also looks like the celebs were inspired by the lavish celebration as well, as Scott Harrison--founder of Charity:Water-- tells CGG that Jay-Z donated $1000 that night to build a well in an underprivileged community! Moreover, the plexi-glass Charity:Water box that Richie placed at the front the club was reportedly filled to the brim with cash by the end of the night-- bringing in a little over $2000 in only one evening!

Other celebs who have also made the move to put the plentiful gifts aside and give on their own birthdays to Charity:Water include Dharma and Greg’s Jenna Elfman and Sideways' star Virginia Madsen.
