The latest Hollywood trend in going green involves getting a little dirty. Celebs like Nicole Richie, Lance Bass, and Rosario Dawson have already dedicated their summers to greening their thumbs and digging gardens all around L.A.

The trio are among many other eco-celebs who have joined The Environmental Media Association’s Young Hollywood Board. Each celeb that participates in this summer’s campaign will adopt a school in the L.A. area and will help create and maintain a garden with the students.

If you want a green thumb like the Obamas and the Hollywood starlets, use this summer to start a garden in your community or organize a green picnic with friends.
