CGG celeb election round-up

With just less than a week away till our new Prez gets elected, the celebs are out in full force to make sure we continue to stay focused on politics.

Matt Damon participated in the Florida VoteFest '08 on Sunday and Monday, to make sure that people were still fired up to vote and to encourage Floridians to vote early. "I took time off from acting until the end of the year to be with my family and our new daughter," Damon told a Sunday Barack Obama rally flooding with supporters, "But it is very important for me to do what I can to help the Obama campaign so people will go out and vote. We need change in this country and now is the time to be sure that happens."

Also, Shakira has just stated her support for Obama-- even if she's not a US citizen herself. "If I could vote, I would vote for Barack Obama because I think that he is the person that can bring the world the true American message. I feel in my heart that he would be able to reconstruct peace and confidence in the United States." And according to Latingossip, Shakira even got a thank you from Obama himself that said, "It is an honor to receive the support of someone who is so talented and generous."

Michelle Obama and her husband have been frequenting pop culture in other ways as well, with Michelle appearing on The Tonight Show Monday night, and with Barack set to appear on The Daily Show tonight at 11pm EDT.
But their two daughters don't seem all too excited about all the TV exposure their parents have been involved with recently.

Michelle told Jay Leno on Monday that their 10-year-old daughter Malia was concerned to hear of her dad's 30-minute infomercial that airs tonight on CBS, NBC, Fox, Univision, BET, MSNBC and TV One. "You're going to be on all the TV? Are you going to interrupt my TV?" Malia apparently asked. Michelle said her husband assured his daughter he wouldn't appear on the Disney channel.

On the other side of the election, Tina Fey told Conan O'Brien that Sarah Palin offered to have Bristol Palin babysit her 3-year-old daughter while filming SNL two weeks ago. "And it was Bristol's birthday too," Tina said. "I was like yeah, that's exactly what 17-year-old Bristol Palin wants to do at SNL... babysit the toddler of the lady that gooks on her mom... But they're a nice family."

But in response to People's query about Tina Fey playing Sarah as bubble-headed, Palin quips, "That's funny, I play her bubble-headed too, when I imitate her."
