CGG got to sit down with Amber Tamblyn backstage at the DS Awards. The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants star told us all about her favorite cause and why she loves Do Something.

“I’m not a really big fan of award shows or award programs,” Amber told us, “but this reminds me a little bit of the EMAs in a way, in the sense that there is actually meaning behind what you’re doing. And you’re representing some really interesting and powerful young people.”

What cause is Amber most passionate about? “The plight of men!” joked the starlet. She told us that women’s health and universal health care are her real causes and she even sits on the board of directors for Planned Parenthood. “I’ve gone to Congress and begged them pretty please for more money to help support them.” Keep working on it Amber!

Amber gave CGG some exclusive info about a scene cut from her movie Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants: “something that really bummed me out—there was a scene in the film originally…where Tibby goes to Planned Parenthood when she’s freaking out. I thought that was really great but they had to cut it out because…storyline wise it didn’t work.”

No hard feelings though, Amber told us she was still impressed about how the movie handled a lot of the issues young women face today like suicide, sex, teen pregnancy etc. If you want to get involved in Amber’s cause, educate yourself! Test your knowledge about teen pregnancy and women’s health.

What do you think about Amber’s cause? Do you think universal health care is the way to go like Amber? Comment below!
