She may have won an Oscar playing a Monster onscreen, but Charlize Theron is anything but. The gorgeous actress gives back to her native South Africa through her African Outreach charity, which works to improve the lives of people throughout Africa, especially those living with HIV/AIDS. Right now, the organization is raising funds to build soccer fields throughout Africa, giving kids a safe place to play the continent’s favorite sport.

Says Charlize:

“In honor of [next summer’s] World Cup, we’re building soccer fields in very rural communities, where African children have no access to play this sport.”

Charlize is also getting some help from our favorite shoe company, TOMS. The company, which is famous for giving a pair of new shoes to a child in need for every pair sold, has donated 10,000 pairs of vegan, eco-friendly shoes to African Outreach. They’ll be available December 15, and some of the money raised will go to Charlize’s org. Check out the TOMS website for more info on buying the shoes.
