Props to Clay Aiken! Not only did he just have a son, Parker, on Aug.8, who was conceived using in vitro fertilization with his best friend. But with the birth of his newborn was also the birth of a new life without secrets. Which is why Clay has finally decided to come out as being a gay father.

“It was the first decision I made as a father,” Clay told People. “I cannot raise a child to lie or to hide things. I wasn’t raised that way, and I’m not going to raise a child to do that.”

“I have no idea if he’ll be gay or straight. It’s not something I’ll have anything to do with, or that he’ll have anything to do with. It’s already probably up inside the code there… No matter what the situation you’re in, if you’re raised in a loving environment, that’s the most important thing.”

On acknowledging that the news may shock some Claymate fans, Clay said he hopes his fans “know that I’ve never intended to lie to anybody at all… But if they leave me, I don’t want them to leave hating me.”

We say this fantastic news should only bring more fans over to Clay’s side for coming out and owning his lifestyle. The news that Clay is a proud gay father sure does make us at least want to put on some throwback American Idol tunes!
