Congrats to David (Cook)!

via AmericanIdol

Let the better David win, American Idol proclaimed last night on its season finale, as it crowned David Cook king. The 25-year old rocker took the crowds from boy wonder Archuleta (17), who went out with grace.

Cook, the humble former bartender from Missouri, has admitted that he never intended to even try out for American Idol, but had accompanied his brother, Andrew to the auditions. David ended wowing the judges with his rendition of Bon Jovi's "Living on a prayer.

"This is all your fault," the tearful David told his brother last night on stage.

David has the initials "AC" on his guitar, for his brother Andrew, and his other brother Adam, who is battling a brain tumor.

His fans have raised $29,000 in honor of his brother for the American Cancer Society. He told them "I owe you the world."

And in case you're not already wearing your cause around your wrist, superfans can purchase the David Cook bracelet, with proceeds going toward Adam's care, as well as the American Brain Tumor Association. With recent news of Senator Ted Kennedy's brain tumor, this sounds like one cause to get vocal on.
