Curly is Beautiful

Get prepared for the second annual “Awaken the Beauty Within” event to be hosted by Christo this Monday in NYC. The afternoon event (featuring beauty makeovers) will benefit the Iris House, a Harlem-based center for women living with HIV/AIDS in Harlem. They provide nutritional counseling, prevention services, testing and counseling services and have assisted more than 1800 men, women and families of primarily African-American and Hispanic origin since 1992.

Christo is also premiering the first ever Curly Hair Award, to honor the beauty of curly hair. Nominees include Shakira, SJP, Beyonce, Alicia Keys, Mariah, and Oprah. Go here to vote now!

Full Disclosure: CGG will be voting for Jordin Sparks, who not only has gorgeous hair but also uses her curls to make a statement for cancer awareness. Check it out below.

Streaks of love, Gingers are full on supporters and they don't know it! that's great. I should get some streaks in my frohawk!

but i so don't get why voting for a curly hair thing is a celebs gone good sort of thing.

curly hair is beautiful marrymejoejonas. and many people don't embrace it. they straighten their hair and put all kinds of chemicals in it. I think we need a return of the afro.

Plus, all the proceeds of the event benefit an HIV/AIDS home in Harlem which is totally awesome. that is def a celebs gone good kind of thing.

we love you jordin!

I want to cure cancer so we can also stop the spread of Gingers.

CUrly hair is awesome, old women look amazing with salt and pepper curls. Jordin Sparks knows its time for a change. Good Point Soccergirl. Nice work.

I have the curliest hair imaginable. It is honestly uncontrollable. I have been debating whether or not to chemically straighten my hair for college. It just seems to be so much easier to manage. Most people hate their own hair.

I appreciate this Curly Hair Award though.

I am so happy that Jordin decided to help out and sponsor DoSomething!!!! It's nice to know that not all celebs are too worried about money, big houses, and uh.. bling to come into the real world and see what this stuff is all about!

Jordin has always been worried about these problems and it's not a surprise that she god involved in this action. If only more celebs would realize that all their fame can help so many people...
