CGG told you earlier this week about Cyndi Lauper and her True Colors tour, set to raise awareness for human rights and the LGBT community. Teen reporter Caileigh O'Connell was live on the scene for the opening of the tour, June 1st at the Jones Beach Amphitheater. Check out out report below.
Host Carson Kressley of Queer Eye for the Straight Guy fame kept the crowd laughing during the five hour show. The vibrant Kat Deluna, who had last summer’s hit song "Whine Up," got the audience dancing during her two-song set.
Alternative Canadian rockers the Cliks rocked- out during a half hour set, including an amazing cover of Justin Timberlake's "Cry Me a River."Other performers included the Indigo Girls, Rosie O’Donnell, and the B-52s.
And finally the woman herself, Cyndi Lauper. She pushed her way past security through the crowds (not a single person in the amphitheater was seated) to make her way on to the stage. The crowds were screaming during the whole set. And during the final song of the night “True Colors,” everyone on the tour came out to sing with her. The True Colors Tour has just only begun. It will most likely be coming to a city near you and you don't want to miss this one. Visit truecolorstour.com for information on the tour and where you can buy you tickets. A portion of every ticket will help to benefit the True Colors Fund of Stonewall Community Foundation which has been created to enable equality in the gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender community.
