The Harry Potter star is back and starring in a new PSA! Back in March, we here at CGG brought you news that Daniel Radcliffe had just wrapped filming for The Trevor Project. Now, the PSA is up and running, and made its debut yesterday on MTV. Check it out!
Founded in 1998, The Trevor Project is the leading organization focused on crisis and suicide prevention efforts among lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and questioning (LGBTQ) youth—and it’s the only nationwide, 24-hour, confidential, crisis helpline. Fact: suicide is the third leading cause of death among 15-24 year olds. As if this statistic isn’t scary enough, did you know that LGBTQ youth are up to four times more likely to attempt suicide than their heterosexual peers?
As Daniel says: Be proud of who you are. Take it one step further, and help others who are struggling to realize the value in themselves. By simply being tolerant and compassionate, you can help save a life today. Join Daniel and The Trevor Project in raising awareness about not being afraid to ask for help when it’s needed! Check out our tips on how you can start a gay-straight alliance at your school—a great way for LGBTQ youth to connect to their peers and make new friends—or how you can get politically active in supporting gay rights.
