Daniel Radcliffe stands by help hotline

Daniel Radcliffe of Harry Potter fame has just finished filming a PSA to advocate tolerance for the lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and questioning (LGBTQ) community. A supporter of The Trevor Project, Daniel is sharing his perspective on fighting homophobia and embracing others for their differences.

The Trevor Project is a nonprofit organization that offers a 24/7 hotline resource for LGBTQ youth concerning suicide prevention. Radcliffe joins fellow actor Neil Patrick Harris in supporting The Trevor Project; just last month, Harris was awarded The Trevor Life Award and appointed to the organization’s board of directors for his efforts in advocating LGBTQ equality and bringing attention to suicide prevention services.

Daniel tells MTV, “I went to school and (for) the first time… I came across homophobia. …I had never encountered it before. It shocked me.” By joining forces with The Trevor Project, the actor is hoping to set an example as a straight man who is not only tolerant but concerned about the well-being of the LGBTQ community.

Bullying and discrimination against LGBTQ individuals is unfortunately a reality for many innocent individuals. Join Daniel in advocating tolerance and read more about how you can help save the lives of youth contemplating suicide. There are so many ways to support the cause! Volunteer today to help make a difference in someone’s life.
