After enduring nearly a year of pressure from PETA, Donna Karan has finally caved: Her upcoming Fall 2009 line will be fur-free! What's more, she's even told PETA that she has "no plans" to use fur anytime in the future either.

Apparently, Project Runway's favorite fashion phenom, Tim Gunn was the one who helped Donna make the big decision. According to PETA, Uncle Timmy sent the designer a video that he narrated for the organization; it depicts the severe cruelty that animals go through so people can stroll the streets in the poor critters' coats. He also urged her to realize the inhumane practices of this industry. And alas, Donna finally had a change of heart!

Donna Karan joins a growing list of designers -- Ralph Lauren, Tommy Hilfiger, and Calvin Klein -- who have decided that they are comfortable in their own skin; they needn't wear or produce clothes that rob from rabbits, mink, etc.

Unfortunately, however, animal cruelty is hardly limited to just making them into coats. Check out these quick 11 facts to get the full story on what's really going on in this day and age -- and how YOU can help to make a difference.
