Back in the 80s, a whopping group of 45 of the HOTTEST artists of the moment (and by hot we're talking Michael Jackson, Bruce Springsteen, Lionel Richie, Stevie Wonder, Tina Turner, Willie Nelson, Cyndi Lauper...basically EVERY star of the decade) recorded the hit song "We Are The World" for the USA For Africa Foundation to combat famine and hunger.
And now a new group of smokin singers are at it again! This megastar cast including Mariah Carey, Beyonce, Mary J. Blige, Rihanna,
Fergie, Sheryl Crow, Miley Cyrus, Melissa Etheridge, Ashanti, Natasha
Bedingfield, Keyshia Cole, Ciara, Leona Lewis, LeAnn Rimes, and Carrie
Underwood is collaborating on the new single “Just Stand Up” for the Stand Up to Cancer Campaign.
This unprecedented charity single is part of a new initiative under the Campaign to raise money for accelerating ground-breaking cancer research. And all these lovely ladies are uniting together to record the single which will be released on radios nationwide and will be available exclusively on iTunes Sept. 2.
On top of this, the dashing divas are scheduled to a premiere TV performance of the song on ABC, CBS, and NBC during Stand Up to Cancer’s fund-raising event which will be showed across America on Sept. 5. It should be mentioned too that this will be the first ever simultaneous cross-network broadcast to raise funds for the fight against any disease!
What an incredible effort it is to see such powerful women banding together to support SU2C’s mission: rallying the public around the effort to end cancer’s reign as a primary cause of death. Make sure to pitch in your buck on iTunes for the song and tune into the tube to watch the star-studded one hour commercial free fund-raiser!
