CGG doesn’t usually care how much money celebs are throwing around…unless they are using their green to go green. Treehugger.com released a list of their top picks for most eco-friendly celeb casas. How does a green celeb pimp out their pad? With solar panels, sustainable-wood flooring, and environmental technologies galore!
The celebrity with the number one greenest casa is...(drum roll please)…Johnny Depp! CGG dubbed him king of green after we heard about his green energy getaway. Johnny is the proud owner of a 35 acre island where he built his self-sustaining habitat that runs exclusively on solar-hydrogen power. Go Johnny!
The comedic couple Julia Louis-Dreyfus and Brad Hall took second place. Third went to the recently imprisoned eco-activist Daryl Hannah who is so green that she even uses a moss covered stone as a couch...seriously. In fourth place was Julia Roberts whose house recently had a $20 million green makeover with recycled tiling, sustainable building materials, and three roofs’ worth of solar panels.
Rounding out the end of the list was Orlando Bloom and his eco-friendly flat, Ed Begley Jr., and finally Tricia Helfer. We love that Johnny and Orlando—two of the “Pirates of the Caribbean” boys—made the list. Looks like life at sea make these studly shipmates more eco-conscious.
We are a little disappointed that Jason Mraz’s avocado farm isn’t on the list—maybe next year once his solar array is complete he will make the cut! If you want to act like an eco-celeb you can! Make a statement like these guys and become an eco-trendsetter by sporting organic and ethical brands. Support green non-profits like Global Green USA, eat local and organic foods, and bust out a bike!
