“That is out on the edge, girl,” celeb-chef, Mario Batali said, teasing his friend Gwyneth Paltrow for bragging about eating “beans in meat broth.” The pair make odd travel buddies, as the glamorous Paltrow shuns red meat and can’t live without her soy milk, but Batali, who “cooks all of the pig but the squeal,” claims she can’t travel without him! “Me. She has to travel with me,” he said. Paltrow and Batali hit the road, and even after 13 weeks of eating their way through Spain, Batali could not even tempt her with Spanish ham, one of his favorites.

Paltrow looked healthy and fit as usual at the launch of the PBS series, Spain…On the Road Again, on Sunday night in New York, even after indulging in paella and churros in Spain. She was thrilled to travel with friend, Batali, who she met 10 years ago at his restaurant. At the time, “I was sort of starstruck,” Paltrow said, “I used to watch his shows on the Food Network.”

Paltrow and Batali share a longtime love of food and Paltrow talks about cooking with her Dad growing up, and cooking for her two kids. “I cook all the meals for my house,” Paltrow said. “I really love to cook. Bread and pizzas is what I’m cooking and we all love it.” Maybe she’s practicing her pizza making to be able to impress Mario when they film a second season of the show, this time touring Italy.

Paltrow enjoyed the treats of Spain, but is sure to get daily exercise and stick to healthy cooking and eating most of the time. To catch the duo sharing cooking and exercising tips, and adventurously eat their way through Spain, check out Spain…On The Road Again Sundays on PBS.
