After accompanying her Coldplay hubby to snatch up some Grammys this week, Gwyneth Paltrow received the 2009 Courage Award at the annual "Unforgettable Evening” at Saks Fifth Avenue. The event took place Tuesday night and benefited the Entertainment Industry Foundation for Women’s Cancer Research Fund.

Gwyneth Paltrow and friend Courtney Cox were recognized for their dedication to the cancer cause, Tom Hanks and Steven Spielberg showed up for support, and Beyonce ended the night with a stunning performance.

Chris Martin wasn't by her side, but Gwyneth didn't seem to mind. "My husband's in Japan," Paltrow told Associated Press, "But I've got Jay-Z, so that's even better."

Paltrow is the Ambassador for the Saks Fifth Avenue Key To The Cure campaign against breast cancer. She has also established her own foundation, the Bruce Paltrow Fund, in memory of her father who passed away from cancer.

“Cancer has been the curse of my family,” Gwyneth said. “I began this crusade soon after my father’s death. Since then the fight against tumors has been my mission.”

She teamed up with Entertainment Industry Foundation and designer Karl Lagerfeld last year to help promote the sale of a t-shirt benefiting women’s cancer research. And Estée Lauder also donates a minimum of $500,000 of sales of items from Gwyneth Paltrow’s Pleasures collection to breast cancer research.
