Uh-oh: Gwyneth Paltrow finds herself in a furry situation

via vegetarianwoman.wordpress.com
Gwyneth Paltrow has long been known as a leading lady of super-green lifestyles with a once macrobiotic diet and frequent yoga practices. But one slip-up involving Gwyneth appearing in a recent Tod's ad sporting a fur stole has sent the people of PETA into a full-on uproar.
Her decision to endorse Tod's, a luxury goods company wich also uses ostrich and snakeskin in their products, has shocked animal rights activists due to Gwyneth's usually eco-friendly stances.
"Apparently her beauty really is only skin deep," one PETA spokesperson said. "Gwyneth Paltrow won't be the apple of her daughter's eye if she continues to flaunt fur. It's a terrible example to set for a young child."
But Gwyneth is now trying to smooth things over with the anti-fur group. While meeting up with PETA senior vice president Dan Matthews at the Fountainbleau Hotel opening in Miami over the weekend, Matthews reported Gwyneth admitted, "That was awkward, and I'm glad you asked, because I do not wear fur at all."
According to Matthews, she offered an explanation: "It was a day-long photo shoot on a boat near Capri, and there were all sorts of poses with all kinds of clothes-none with fur. During one set up, a stylist came up from behind and draped a stole around my shoulder."
Gwyneth continued, "I didn't pay much attention to it, and when I noticed it was fur, I assumed it was fake fur, but did not ask, so it's my fault. I was very surprised when they ended up using that one shot out of hundreds for the centerpiece of the Tod's ads. I know it's not a great excuse, but I hope you and your members understand."

Yikes!
I'd think Gwyneth would know the difference between real and fake fur -- they feel very much different, don't they?
I really appreciate the 11 quick facts -- check this one out:
A fur coat is pretty cool—for an animal to wear. Eighteen red foxes are killed to make one fox-fur coat, 55 minks to make a mink coat.
FUR SUCKS! AND SO DO THE PEOPLE WHO WEAR IT!
But I forgive you, Gwyneth...this time! Still, there are so few celebrities who actually apologize and admit that they're wrong -- I think that IS a good example for Apple!
i definitely agree that fur is no good. i think peta can be a little extreme sometimes though- saying gwyneth is not beautiful on the inside?? hmm... kinda harsh there buddy.
hopefully she learned her lesson though and will be more aware about what kind of image her photo shoots are putting out.
I totally respect her for apologizing. That proves she is a bigger person.
fur bad, apoligizing very respectful, skin-deep maybe, truly-sorry hope so!
